Overview
Integrated CAD/CAM built for die making
Cimatron Die is an integrated CAD/CAM solution developed for sheet metal die making. You carry out bending, drawing, unfolding and other forming operations on the model while completing die design and production planning in the same environment.
Customer data is imported quickly from standard formats such as DXF, IGES, STEP, VDA, Parasolid and SAT, or from other CAD systems, and incomplete or unstitched models are made ready with healing and stitching tools. Engineering changes that arrive at any point in the project can be brought into the design.
Die Quote · Cost Estimation
Base your quotes on calculation, not guesswork
Prepare accurate, comprehensive quotes for your sheet metal dies. Manual calculations and tedious data entry are automated with smart algorithms and customizable design parameters.
- Reflect material, machining time, operations, labor and overhead in the quote.
- See how part complexity affects cost at an early stage.
- Spot design issues and savings opportunities while you estimate.
Blank & Strip Design
From blank development to strip layout
Unfold parts on bent and formed surfaces step by step or in one go. Use dedicated tools for bending, cutting, punching, forming and drawing, and detect problems such as tearing, wrinkling and springback during unfolding.
- Set the number of stations, pitch, strip width, and the part’s position and angle on the strip.
- Adjust part nesting to improve material usage.
- Design stations for transfer and tandem dies as well as progressive dies.
- Validate forming steps with simulation during design.
Die Set and Punch Design
A die set that fits the project, dimensions that fit the strip
Load a die set that matches your project’s requirements, or use your own die set with predefined plates and fasteners. Die set dimensions adapt automatically to the designed strip and can be changed at any stage of the process.
- Define trimming punches from contours, and create forming, bending and cutting components with surface and solid tools.
- Analyze vertical die motion and kinematics to catch interferences during design.
Catalog Parts and Drawings
From library to assembly, from assembly to drawing
Use up-to-date catalog parts or your own customized library; parts are applied to the assembly automatically and sized to fit.
Die drawings get centerlines and coordinate labels automatically, and drawing templates that carry customer specifications can be reused again and again.
Wire EDM and CNC Programming
Prepare die components for production in the same environment
- Create wire paths for all areas with 2- and 4-axis wire EDM, and classify geometry automatically with feature recognition.
- Define geometry by selecting curves or surfaces, and program your EDM machines with broad machine support and process templates.
- Use plate machining, automated drilling, high-speed roughing and 3- to 5-axis finishing strategies.
- Send programs to the machine with confidence using G-code simulation, collision checking and post-processors.
