What Is the SolidCAM Swiss-Type Module?
The SolidCAM Swiss-Type module works through SolidCAM’s interface, fully integrated into the SOLIDWORKS and Autodesk Inventor CAD software. It runs milling and turning (mill-turn) operations in the most efficient way, covering the main spindle, the sub-spindle and the turning chuck, as well as toolpaths, remaining stock and tooling. SolidCAM’s patented advanced technology, iMachining, can also be used in Swiss-type machine operations.

It allows you to synchronize and optimize all machining operations for high-productivity manufacturing. Advanced Remaining Stock Calculation
SolidCAM continuously calculates the remaining stock at every step of the operation tree. This way it keeps optimizing toolpaths for the shortest cutting time and reduces the time the tool spends moving without cutting.
Even when the workpiece is transferred from the main spindle to the sub-spindle, the current remaining stock moves with it to its new position. Because the remaining operations on the sub-spindle continue from the stock left by the main spindle, you get the most efficient machining.
Superimposition
SolidCAM supports three different “superimposition” modes. When a pair of axes is linked, the “slave” axis can follow the master axis. On suitable mill-turn machines, SolidCAM uses this mode automatically.
Machining Time
Linking axes and drives to each other’s motion shortens machining time. Synchronizing milling and turning operations results in the most efficient machining.
Channel Synchronization
The channel synchronization collision engine shows you whenever there is a problem. Taking the machine kinematics into account, this smart system can evaluate other synchronization and operating options.
Works with Complex CNC Machines
The SolidCAM Swiss-Type module works with many complex CNC sliding-headstock lathes, also known as Swiss-type machines, with an unlimited number of axes and channels. Advanced machine simulation, which shows the machine kinematics, moving parts and the complete toolpath, lets you verify your production with confidence.
